The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association has found that newcomers to Saskatchewan are more physically active than people born and raised in the province.

A survey back in February of 2018 found that 46% of newcomers get the recommended two and a half hours per week, While 31% get more than 2 and a half hours.

The main reasons people are not working out is chronic health issues, time is spent on inactive pursuits, and most of all, 35% of people say they don't have time to work out. Humboldt has multiple facilities available for physical activity such as the Uniplex to help people stay in shape.

"It's a great opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and also feel like you're a part of the greater community," said Christian Bates-Hardy with Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association on why newcomers are more active.

The survey found that in Saskatchewan, 19% of people get the recommended amount of exercise per week while 23% achieve more. However, 58% are less active than recommended.
