The Peewee Broncos hockey team was spending part of their winter break to give back to the community.

Players from the team were collecting bottles on Wednesday afternoon, with all funds raised from the bottle drive going to assist local families.

"I think it's nice that we are doing this, and we are donating all the money that we are getting from all the bottles," said Rylen LeRoux on the initiative.

Money raised from the bottle drive, which went over a span of five hours, will be donated to PARTNERS Family Services to help a family in need.

Toryn Simoneau says that they were inspired by the many people who don't have the things that they do.

"We have a lot of things, like good families and parents. Some people don't have all that and some don't even have a shelter or anything," he explained. "We just wanted to give back to the community and help out in the community."

Teammate Carson Haugan agreed with Simoneau, saying he was happy to help out.

"I think it's really great and it is pretty nice that we are doing this. I think our coaches thought of this and it's a pretty good idea."

The boys also agreed that pitching in and helping out as a team makes them become better teammates on the ice as well.
