Thanks to $25,000 in funding from the Community Initiatives Fund(CIF) Humboldt based PARTNERS Family Services is branching out with their services in the region.

Executive Director Hayley Kennedy provides more details.

"We applied for some funding through the CIF to expand our community outreach initiatives which is allowing us to put a worker into the communities of Wakaw and Wynyard one day a week."

Crisis intervention, housing support, parental support and referral services are just a small portion of what they will now be able to offer these communities that geographically seem to find themselves left out in the cold on certain supports as Kennedy explains.

"Wakaw and Wynyard are both in unique positions geographically, they fall on the edge of a lot of regions. They fall on the edge of the Saskatoon Health Region, they fall on the edge of the region Yorkton will service, they kind of get lost in the shuffle a little bit so we wanted to make sure that we had something that was consistent there that individuals and families could access on an ongoing basis."

Their days in Wynyard are Thursday, that began September 1st. They will operate out of the health clinic at 210 Avenue B East. Wakaw are set to begin September 7th and will operate on Wednesdays out of the health clinic there located at 301 1st North.
