A different kind of P.A.R.T.Y will be gracing the hallways for Humboldt area schools in the next coming weeks.

Safe Communities Humboldt & Area is bringing back their P.A.R.T.Y. Program for grade 9 and 10 students throughout May and early June. P.A.R.T.Y. stands for Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth.

"The P.A.R.T.Y. Program is a typical full day session for our grade 9 and 10 students in the region to attend. We target the new drivers and youth in the area. The day talks about things related to trauma, decision making, risk taking and things of that nature. We follow the path of trauma survivors and other individuals involved in that process. That includes emergency services, addiction services, we have survivor speakers involved, local coroners, funeral home directors, and all of those individuals address the students to discuss various topics throughout the day," said Safe Communities Humboldt & Area Executive Director, Shari Hinz.

This will be the 15th year running of the P.A.R.T.Y. Program and will run for four days in Humboldt over the course of a month. May 1st and 30th will run for HCI students. May 8th and June 4th are intended for students from Bruno, Englefeld, Lake Lenore, LeRoy, Lanigan, Muenster, Middle Lake and Watson School.

The P.A.R.T.Y. Program usually has around 100 grade 9 and 10 students attend per session, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive, injury prevention and health promotion program for teenagers.

Education involving the consequences of risk-taking behaviour is always important, and thanks to Safe Communities Humboldt & Area, among other supporters, the teenagers in the area will have a course to help further that education.
