Humboldt RCMP, Fire Rescue and Ambulance had a different mission this week.

The Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth, or, PARTY program, took place once again this year at Elger Peterson Arena.

Paramedic Shawn Parfat explains why the P.A.R.T.Y. program exists.

"It's just that they (the kids) can see this is real and this stuff does happen. It's not just on TV and that it can happen to you. It can be your neighbor, it can be your friend that this kind of stuff can happen to."

Safe Communities Humboldt presented the P.A.R.T.Y. Program mock-crash to raise awareness for drunk driving.

Safe Communities Executive Director Shari Hinz describes the message portrayed through the PARTY Program.

"It gives them a real opportunity to think about what it means to make smart choices, take smart risks. I guess that's kind of the biggest message that we wanted to send to those kids that attended; definitely understand that every decision that you make, there's consequences that not only impact yourself but can impact others, and it can be life changing."

Students from HCI as well as the surrounding area attended the P.A.R.T.Y. program event.

Craig Stomp from the Humboldt Fire Department outlined what they P.A.R.T.Y. program meant to him.

"The P.A.R.T.Y. program is a program about teaching students about risk taking and alcohol, and how to avoid that and how not to cross that line and be safe out there while having fun."

107-5 Bolt FM's own Tyler Bieber and Ron Quaroni were actors in this year's demonstration.
