A visitor restriction has been declared at Parkland Place in Melfort Wednesday as the result of an apparent outbreak among several residents and staff.

Five residents and nine staff are reporting symptoms associated with gastrointestinal illness.

An outbreak is declared when a minimum of three residents, patients, clients or staff display symptoms of illness in a twenty-four hour period.

Visitors to Parkland Place are being restricted effective immediately as the result of the outbreak.

Precautions have been put in place to help contain and minimize the spread of the illness.

Visitors are being restricted until further notice, with the exception of those visiting residents that are extremely ill.
