Nearly 800 dancers with 55 instructors from about 20 different communities have converged on Humboldt for the annual On Stage Dance Festival.

The event started on April 11th and rolls through the weekend to April 14th. Festival President Joanne Berger says the event is off to a wonderful start, "It's going awesome and everybody seems to be having a great time."

The Uniplex and Recreation Department staff have been preparing for days to welcome the performers, teachers, and parents. Virtually all parts of the complex are in use to accommodate dressing rooms. rehearsal spaces, props areas, and of course the main performance area inside Jubilee Hall.

Berger outlines the variety of dance that viewers will be treated to, "There's tap, there's modern, lots of ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and there's a production number that's coming up on Friday evening."

The Golden Tickets are always a popular feature of the event. Berger explains, "The Golden Tickets are awarded throughout the Festival to small and large groups that can dance again on Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 or 3:00 pm to be awarded a cash prize.

The On Stage Dance Festival runs daily until Sunday's grand finale.
