Dream Big, Achieve Bigger.

That was the theme of Friday's Calico Gymnastics Gala, which featured Humboldt's Brianne Theisen-Eaton and her husband Ashton Eaton.

The two Olympians gave a strong message about overcoming adversity and continuing to chase goals.

Co-chair of the event, Jodi Smith says they were the perfect guest speakers for Calico's model.

"We couldn't have asked for anybody better to come here and help us raise awareness for the club - world class athletes, record-holding athletes, that both told their stories," she stated. "They came from a very small town themselves, and just to make anything possible when you have a love for what you want to do."

Smith continued about the importance of holding the event, as Calico continues to raise funds.

"It was so crucial. Not only from a financial perspective, but as an awareness piece. We brought the message to a lot of people that live and work in our region about how important the club is, and what our need is for (which is) a permanent home."

After moving from their home in the Humboldt Mall due to expected renovations, the club is presently renting out a building while continuing to raise funds for a new home.

Smith added that they are halfway towards their initial fundraising goal of $250,000.

"We've got some fundraising that is attached to each of the individual gymnasts," she mentioned of their continued efforts. "We've got some tickets that they're going to be selling on Westjet, that sort of thing."

Earlier in the day, the duo inspired over 1,200 students at the Elgar Petersen Arena with their message.

Calico hosted a Gymathon on Saturday morning with Ashton and Brianne signing autographs, as well as running one of the stations.
