Following a six-year reign at the top, Emma is no longer the most popular name in Saskatchewan for newborns.

Olivia is the new favourite name among parents when selecting a girl's name, while for the sixth year in a row, Liam was the most popular selection for a boy.

EHealth Saskatchewan released the statistics Wednesday, with a total of 80 girls occupying the name Olivia and 69 boys being named Liam.

Emily and Emma split second place for girls, with 63, while Noah fell closely behind as the second-most popular name for boys at 65.

Perhaps with royal influence, Charlotte appeared in the top 20 for the first time ever. That was the name chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate.

In 2015, there was 15,497 births registered in the province.
