As February inches closer to its end, Humboldt area residents find themselves wondering when the extreme cold will see its way out.

Following a slight warm-up on the weekend, winter's nasty accomplice has returned.

"That arctic air is streaming back into the province, so we're looking at really cold temperatures at night and warming up slightly during the day," says Environment Canada's John Paul Cragg.

"It's going to be bright and sunny, but temperatures are remaining quite cold."

The good news, according to Cragg, is that normal conditions are expected to move in for the weekend, with temperatures breaking the double digit barrier.

Forecasted highs for Saturday and Sunday are in the -6 to -7 range, with nightly lows remaining in the teens.
