Months after the day that no one in Humboldt and area can forget, the community outreach still pours in for those affected by the bus crash.

In the first week of November 2018, the Calgary Flames organization has sent out the warmest of condolences to the family of the late Darcy Haugan. They invited Haugan's sons, Carson and Jackson, to participate in practice with the team and take in some professional critiquing from current NHL coaches. The event was well-kept under wraps and shows the good intentions that were meant by the Flames organization towards the privacy of the family.

Initially after the incident, the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers then head coaches personally traveled to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where they greeted players, family, and friends. Both came equipped with team gear for all the players, and it was a great way to show support to a group of gentleman who had just endured the struggle of a lifetime. Fast forward seven months and the hockey community is still giving back in the biggest of ways.

Along with attending and actively participating in a live Flames practice, they had seats at both their games, against the Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks, two wins to boot. The Haugan family has been an example of solidarity for all who have lost a cherished family member, reminding all that Darcy would have wanted us all to find the strength inside of each of us, and persevere through tough times with grace and dignity.
