Zach McIntyre has big hockey dreams and he's taking them to Humboldt.

The 17-year-old right wing hails from a small town called Rhein, SK, near the Yorkton area.

McIntyre had met and received encouragement from the late Humboldt Broncos General Manager and head coach, Darcy Haugen, this past SJHL season.

"I thought I was going to play there (Humboldt) next year, and that was my goal, so now I have to live it."

McIntyre will continue his hockey career playing for the Broncos next season.

He was recently signed during the Humboldt Broncos camp this month in Saskatoon, where he was "amazed" to meet NHL head coaches Mike Babcock of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Jared Bednar of the Colorado Avalanche.

"It was really eye-opening! You're pretty amazed. You want to give out your talent, even more, to impress those guys and your coaches too," he says of the NHL coaches.

Through his introduction to the Broncos organization this past season, McIntyre got to know many of the survivors and players who died in the April 6th crash and wants to keep them in mind when he wears the Broncos jersey next fall.

"I want to keep on playing to continue the legacy. I knew lots of them and were friends with them, so I want to keep on playing for them."

On becoming a Humboldt Bronco, McIntyre says it's going to be "such a cool experience".

"You're going to have the whole world behind you and you're going to want to keep on going," he says.
