If you head up the stairs at the Humboldt and District Gallery, you’ll see more than a dozen pictures of smiling faces.

They are the faces of newcomers and refugees who have moved to Humboldt, displayed in an exhibit titled “I Am Here Because It's Home.”

The collection was put together by the Humboldt Regional Newcomer's Centre.

The idea is to create dialogue between rural residents and newcomers and refugees, executive director Janine Hart said

"We felt a visual representation of why somebody has decided that Humboldt is their home is a stepping stone for that, to open that conversation."

The exhibit runs to June 29. The centre will also show the photos at its annual fall gala.
