The ice is officially installed and in use at Elgar Petersen Arena. The Humbolt Hockey Camp is taking place August 20th-22nd, 2018, as the youngsters will be the first to skate the fresh sheet of ice which features two Humboldt Broncos green and yellow memorial ribbons just inside the blue lines.

The ice installation process is a detailed three-week progress starting with lowering the temperature in the building followed by base coats, white ice paints, lines and logos and then numerous layers of water and floods done by hand to create the 1.5-inch think surface.

Mike Ulriksen, The Director of Community and Leisure Services said, 'When you see the players come back on the ice, there are emotions from the crew in a year like this one following the events on April 6th.'

Along with the ice surface, The EPA also installed a new score clock above center ice, which Ulriksen said, 'Will have a lot more features than the old lightbulb system. Including ability for replays, live ads for sponsors, among others neat new abilities other than just the score and time.'

Following the Humboldt Hockey Camp will be Hockey Day in Humboldt on Friday, Aug 24th before The Humboldt Broncos open up their training camp that night and throughout the weekend.
