Humboldt’s public art committee is developing a streamlined process for approving public memorials to the Humboldt Broncos.

The discussion stems from Victor Fraser’s work painting “Humboldt Strong” in temporary paint on the sidewalk leading to City Hall, city manager Joe Day said.

The public art committee typically reviews all submissions for installing permanent art, such as the murals painted on buildings around the city - but didn’t have guidelines for temporary memorials.

Now, the committee will be able to properly vet ideas for Broncos memorials without slowing down the process too much, Day said.

As outlined in the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery minutes from its June meeting, temporary public Broncos memorials would be allowed for one year, with a written submission and detailed sketch to be reviewed by the committee and Day.
