A private office, more working space, shelving units, and a garage door.

Those are things the old Humboldt Food Bank lacked, but now have in the new building.

Shirley Reiter is treasurer and a board member for the Humboldt Food Bank.

She talks about the overall reaction of getting the new building.

"We absolutely love it. Anybody that was ever been in the old building that has talked to us has said it is just so nice to work in. It's warm, it's clean and new, and there's space for you to get around. The old building was a series of little tiny rooms."

Reiter says this couldn't have been done without the generosity of Humboldt residents.

"Humboldt is a remarkable community; they are extremely giving. We've had so many organizations and school groups who have had to keep their food until our new building was open. So yes, our shelves are getting full, but we also go through about 90 families that use our services a month."

Reiter explains there are a lot of changes for the Food Bank in the new location.

"Before we could not interview our clients in private. We really felt a strong need to have an office where the doors would close. I think that is one of our main features. We also have a much better flow, for clients to come in and exit the building without coming in and out of the same door."

The Humboldt Food Bank will be open Tuesdays from 2:00 until 4:00 in the afternoon.
