The City of Humboldt has a new man in charge of their finances.

Joe Day spent over 15 years working for the City of Prince Albert including his latest post as their Finance Manager. He started his first day with the City of Humboldt Monday.

He explains what drew him to the smaller market.

"The City of Humboldt has been recognized as having some good direction in the way it wants to go as an organization," he said in his new office at City Hall. "It's a small city but it's growing, there's a lot of things that are really attractive about the City of Humboldt."

Day is relocating to Humboldt with his wife Danielle, they have three grown children, two live in Saskatoon, the other in Regina.

He said that a change in direction was needed for his career.

"Prince Albert has some of it's concerns and certainly after 14 years there there were starting to be some challenges with respect to the direction I wanted to go with some management things there. I saw Humboldt as a fresh start to kind of get to a municipality that I think shares some of the same direction I have."

He takes over for Faisal Quadri and says the 2017 budget will be the first big ticket item he takes to task.

"We're pleased Joe is able to bring his many years of experience in finance and municipal operations to our city," said City Manager Roy Hardy in the news release. "His knowledge and skills will be a good asset to our senior administrative team."
