The Town of Wynyard now has access to a new family doctor, thanks to a provincial program.

Through the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment program, the town is welcoming Dr. Ali Sasani.

Sasani is one of 14 International Medical Graduates who have completed the most recent assessment through the SIPPA program.

"Internationally trained physicians play an important role in our health care system, and we welcome them to Saskatchewan," said Health Minister Jim Reiter.

He added that through the program, there is now over 750 more doctors practising today than 10 years ago.

Fourteen additional graduates are currently undergoing field assessments, and upon completion, they will begin working in the province this fall.
