The Reid Thompson Public Library in Humboldt has a new librarian.

Michael Langhorst studied at the University of Alberta and spent many years working for Athabasca University.

He says his love for books goes back a long ways to his childhood in Germany.

"I've read books ever since i was a boy, I started out when I was about 10 or 11."

Langhorst is a good fit for the job because of his background at the University of Alberta and his interest in books, plus his wife, Barb, has a P.H.D. in Literature.

"We both like books, I have two degrees from the U of A, so yes it is."

Langhorst is the replacement for Rose Ward, who retired in January after 18 years. He hopes to increase the library's social media presence as well as starting a blog.

You can hear more from Langhorst in his interview with Bolt FM's Sarah Miller.
