Those affected by Wednesday's ruptured SaskEnergy natural gas line are back in the warmth.

SaskEnergy says that as of 10:00pm Thursday, service has been restored for the 4,500 customers who had their service interrupted.

A ruptured line between Birch Hills and Weldon was the source of the issue, which affected several communities, including St.Brieux, Melfort and Kinistino.

The outage was the largest SaskEnergy has ever had, according to Communications Director Dave Burdeniuk, who says that a normal outage for them typically affects only one or two customers.

Technicians were able to restore heat for around half of those affected on Wednesday, which included St. Brieux School.

The remaining customers were without heat for nearly or more than a full day before having their service kick back in.

The cause of the rupture is now being investigated.
