A weekend full of fireworks, kids activities, and even a parade made Naicam a hot spot for entertainment this weekend.

The town celebrated Canada Day, as well as Homecoming, and the town's 95th birthday.

Carl Peterson is a committee member and the Fire Chief for Naicam Fire Department.

He says this weekend couldn't be done without the work of volunteers.

"We just finished setting up our street dance, we had to barracade the street off for legal purposes, and it's tons of hours of volunteers. So big kuddos to that, big kuddos to my guys at the Fire Department, they put in hours this week."

Events such as pancake breakfasts, fireworks, and a live performance from "Bad Habit" highlighted the weekend celebration, as well as a parade.

Peterson explains how the Naicam committees all came together for one weekend.

"The committee actually worked really hard to make all that come together for one party. And the thing is, everybody is busy with their own stuff nowadays so to get all of the committees together for one weekend just worked better for everybody. It was the main thing, as far as logistics and that."

Peterson explains what makes this years celebration unique.

"Well this weekend, we actually have homecoming every five years, so it should have been last year, like 2015. But this year is Naicam's 95th birthday so we just held off one year last year and moved it to this, and then just combined Canada Day and our 95th Birthday all in one, and then in five years we can do 100."

All of the volunteers are thanked for their hard work in making sure this weekend's events ran smoothly.
