A mid-January break from the cold Saskatchewan winter is on the horizon.

While an extreme cold warning lingers throughout Monday morning and early afternoon, plus-degree temperatures may be coming, says Environment Canada's John Paul Cragg.

"A pretty good warm-up is on its way, or forecast to be on its way, with temperatures getting to or past the zero degree mark by mid-week."

As of Monday morning, Environment Canada says we could see highs between zero to five degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures will start to swing back to below zero come the weekend, but are still likely to be above normal.

Cragg notes that wind chills should taper off towards the evening and are not expected to reach warning criteria on Monday night.
