The spirit of community support is alive and well in the Midway Co-op region. Over the past year, the success of the co-operative, which serves Leroy, Watson, Englefeld and surrounding communities, led to a situation where agencies in their communities could benefit. The cumulative donations provided by Midway totalled $8,500.

Nick Koroluk, General Manager of the Midway Co-op confirms that it was a good year financially and that allowed for a healthy set of donations. The three beneficiaries were Leroy School, Watson School, and McNab Park Golf Course in Watson. When it comes to the donations, Koroluk explains, "we had a little better year this year, and there's nothing better than sharing that with the communities. As for the two schools, education is important and we also thought we'd help out the golf course." The Watson School earmarked the donation for its breakfast program and other projects, while Leroy school directed it portion to outdoor sports equipment and a storage shed. The Golf Course has plans for its golf carts.

This is certainly not the first time Midway Co-op has provided financial support for community ventures. Koroluk speaks about past offerings, "Every year we're usually in the range of the $30,000 mark. When the rink burned down in Leroy, we donated over five years $20,000 a year up to $100,000. So it's people in need and other organizations we like to help out."
