Fastball and Slo-Pitch players gathered in Lucien Lake and Middle Lake for the Canada Day Sports Day.

The Sports Day has been going on for almost 90 years, bringing people to the sports ground despite the weather.

Janine Schmidt describes how important the sports day is to the community.

"It's important because it is a tradition that we like to continue each year. It was something that was brought in by our forefathers and we want to continue that celebration."

Schmidt explains what makes the Sports Day unique.

"(It's) unique because we celebrate this each year. We are celebrating 89 years this year. It's a community event, it brings out lots of people from our community (and) the surrounding area, great place to visit, and have some fun."

Schmidt says this event isn't possible without volunteers.

"Each year we have a lot of people that help out. We have the 4-H Club, they help out with the pop booth. We have our Senior community that take care of the pies and the pie booth and they have home made pies, they're really wonderful. We also have the Lion's club, they help out with collecting at the gate."

The Sports Day Committee would like to thank all of those who helped, including the Middle Lake Lions Club, the 4-H club, and the Seniors for making this event possible.
