Bruno Town Council hopes to prevent the loss of another Bruno Cherry Sunday.

“We’re going to be talking about that here in the next little while at council, and see if there’s something we can help out with next year if this falls through again,” Mayor Dale Glessman said.

Organizers canceled this year’s festival last month. They were unable to find volunteer help after the St. Therese Institute of Faith and Mission was denied federal summer job funding when it refused to sign a controversial attestation.

The festival brought a lot of people into Bruno, so it’s loss will be a “big impact” on the town, Glessman said.

“Lots of people are upset about it.”
