Golfers in the Wynyard area have a Golf Tournament Fundraiser to look forward to.

June 18th will be known as the "Longest Day of Golf" for those who enter the two-person best ball tournament.

Ryan Calder explains how the day will go.

"We're going to have registration at 10 o'clock that day, tee-off at 11. And it's going to be a two-person best ball tournament. Later on in the day, from 5 to 7, we're going to have a silent auction and supper. And the supper by the way is going to be open to the public for $20 a ticket for the public to participate in the supper if they wish."

The tournament is to support Wynyard and Wadena CARRES, organizations that work with people with intellectual disabilities.

Calder describes what the money is going towards.

"We're having a golf tournament that day to raise some money for some backyard supplies like a gazebo and therapeutic swim spa and some other items that we need for some of the individuals we work with."

Calder says there is also something lined up for the younger golfers as well.

"We're having a miniature putt in the afternoon where you can come down and do 18 holes of miniature golf on the putting green, and it'll just be a fun little event and we're going to give out some prizes for that as well."

Registration for the "Longest Day of Golf" can be done an hour before tee-off at the tournament or can be done over the phone at 338-7509. Registration is $100 per player, or $500 or more in pledges per team.

Supper is open to the public for $20 for adults, or $1 per year of age for kids.

Supper tickets and pledge forms can be found at Scotia bank in Wynyard or MDSI in Wadena.
