One local young woman was the recipient of a very important scholarship.

Paige Daubenfeld is a 2018 graduate of St. Brieux School. She will be receiving the 2018-19 Chancellors’ Award from the University of Saskatchewan. The scholarship, which is awarded based on academic achievement at a Canadian high school, provides $7,500 over four years, for a total of $30,000.

"It is amazing, I was so thankful I was chosen for the scholarship because it just shows that even people in small towns have the opportunity for these great things." Daubenfeld continued, "It Shows that your hard work really does pay off, I'm just so thankful, it's been a crazy experience."

Daubenfeld explained the process of how she applied for the scholarship, and how it came to fruition. "It was brought to my attention by my career counselor, Brent Loehr." Daubenfeld went on, "He showed me how simple the application process was, all I had to do was submit my high school transcripts and answer some questions." She added, "The chancellor's scholarship was focused on academic standing, so it was mostly doing well in my high school classes."

Daubenfeld is currently studying at the University of Saskatchewan in the College of Arts and Sciences, with intentions of completing a degree in Physiology and Pharmacology. She then plans to apply to the College of Medicine. She has always been interested in the health field and sees it as a great way to help others.
