Quilting enthusiasts flocked to the Bella Vista Inn Friday for the kick-off of the two-day long 'Bolts to Bindings' Quilt Show.

Several of the 30 members of the Prairie Patchwork Quilt Guild have their handmade works of art on display, with styles ranging from baby charity quilts, art quilts, bed-size quilts, paper-pieced quilts and more.

"Many quilts are more than just a piece of comfort at home to lay on your bed. A lot of them are expanding into modern art", explains guild co-president, Doreen de Gooijer.

Some local vendors were also there with many of the latest tools and products available for sale. Guests were welcomed to attend some quilting demonstrations as well.

The guild will also be working with Haus of Stitches in Humboldt to put together many quilts that will be given to those family members, survivors, first-responders and others impacted by the Humboldt Broncos accident.

Known "givers" by nature, de Gooijer agrees that local quilters in her guild are on board to help with the undertaking.

"We always love helping out," she says.

The show and sale continues all day Saturday and one entrant will be awarded the Viewer's Choice honour at the end of the show.
