Local music will be on display Friday night, as the Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition holds their second annual benefit concert.

Dubbed the Mid-Winter Ceilidh, President of HARC, Erin Ruel, says that it is a big deal for them.

"It's probably our biggest fundraiser. Last year it was for sure, so hopefully we can say the same for this year."

Five different acts will be performing throughout the night, thanks to the help of one of the performers.

"Andy MacAnally is the one who got all the artists together. He is in one of the bands performing, so he approached everybody last year and again this year, so I think everybody was pretty happy to do it again," explained Ruel.

One of the artists - Ray Whitton - is quite pleased to be performing once again.

"It was a great time with some wonderful folks who came out to support not only the live music, but more importantly, the sponsoring of the family that is now in Humboldt," he said.

Other artists performing will be Trevor Ross, The Horses Mouth, Brian & Brett and 40oz. Philosophy.

Ruel notes that the concert was a big hit last year, and now in year two, she would like to see it continue on.

"I hope that it happens every year, but I can't make that decision on my own, because we do depend on the artists who donate their time, and everybody who has put a lot of work into making it happen."

She added that advance tickets are available for $20 at Causeway Natural Health, with tickets also available at the door for $25.

The evening will begin at 7:00pm at the Community Gathering Place.
