The Saskatchewan Government has announced record municipal revenue sharing of more than $271 million for 2016-17.

Humboldt will be seeing $1.24 million this year which is up $27,000 from last year.

Humboldt Mayor Malcolm Eaton gave his thoughts on the program.

"We're really excited about this program and have been ever since it has began, and it's been a really important program for Humboldt as it is for every community in the province but as a growing community this provides us with some significant additional revenue."

Eaton said the funds that come from the PST from two years ago goes to many different areas in the city including the museum, library, fire department, and leisure services expenses.

The program is designed to rise and fall with the economy explained Eaton, "we said to the province, we are wiling to take a little less when we are having difficult years and we certainly will want to have more in the program when we are having those good years so the program is doing what it should, it is giving communities extra support."

RM of Prairie Rose Reeve Bruce Elke is also celebrating this year's funds.

He said the formula gives them funds to rely on, "It always varies a bit but at least you are certain that's coming so you can kind of make a plan so you can have some stability in your funding from the province."

RM's focus mainly on infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

Bridges cost from $500,000 to $1 million.
