It's been three long years since the Town of LeRoy lost their rink to a fire, a month from now they will celebrate the grand opening of their new $5.6 million facility.

Fundraising Committee Member Bryce Moore talks more about the big weekend on August 12th and 13th.

"The grand opening is a chance for everyone in the area, whoever who wants to come out who has ever played hockey in LeRoy, visited LeRoy. I know people here are excited about the new facility, come out, take a look around and see what we have here."

Friday night they will focus on local entertainment, Saturday night the Johner Boys will perform. The ribbon cutting ceremony will also take place on the Saturday evening.

"You couldn't have a new arena opening without some hockey," Moore added. "We're having a two day floor hockey tournament on the new ice surface area."

As for the fundraising portion, Moore says they have done well and he is happy with where they are at at the completion date nears.

"We're about $300,000 short, that's sort of the number we're looking at right now. Of course we will have more of a definitive number once everything is finished and finalized so we're sticking around that $300,000 short but for a project this size I think that's pretty good to be there at this point."

Moore says the tournament has a limit and will fill fast so he urges early registration.
