The community of Lake Lenore held their annual Heatwave event last weekend.

A long list of kid's activities was on the agenda for the afternoon, followed by a supper and cabaret to end off the night.

One of the organizers, Kim Moorman said the Heatwave is a major fundraiser for the village.

"We use all of these funds to go back into the community, into our community buildings and it is for the entire community so it has always been very successful and we rely a lot on this event to continue to grow our community."

They don't know official numbers quite yet, but they believe the event brought in around $10,000.

Moorman talked about where the money raised goes, "we put a lot of investment into the current buildings already, we do have a couple smaller things on the go, some work on the hall but other than that we're just building the pot and the next time someone needs something then we're ready to go."

The event included introducing their human foozball court which they hope to bring back next year.

More from Moorman can be heard in her full interview with Bolt FM's Angie Dukart below.
