The number of activities in Humboldt and the region is picking up with Spring right around the corner but for some, they are left out.

Financial restraints leave a lot of kids on the sidelines but that's what an organization like Kidsport is for.

Mike Ulriksen is the Chair of the local committee.

"We've been around now for a few years and we've kind of cemented ourselves here and we're definitely excited to help out more families this year. Each year we're looking at being able to offer financial support to families whose children otherwise are going to be on the sidelines and won't get to take in all the benefits of playing organized sports."

Last year 13 organizations benefited from having kids in their activities thanks to Kidsport.

Ulriksen explains how you can apply for confidential funding through the organization.

"We've got two main channels that we like to use, you can either contact PARTNERS Family Services, they can take applications and have all the information down there or by dropping off at the Uniplex. We have forms here to fill out, you can drop them off here and they get put in an envelope and they get given to one of our Kidsport reps so nobody else sees them, nobody has any interaction with those forms."

The Humboldt Kidsport chapter receives funding from the provincial body but also has their own fundraisers, stay tuned for a couple to be announced later this Spring.

For anyone looking to donate, you can follow the same process by contacting PARTNERS or call the Uniplex at 682-2597.
