The Kelsey Trail Health Region will soon be the key holders to the new health care facility in Kelvington.

The KTHR released an update on the progress of the facility Monday saying construction and renovations are moving onto "the home stretch."

On May 1st, the contractors will pass the keys over to the health region.

Renovations of the south wing of the Kelvindell Lodge are almost complete, possession date in set for May 19th. On May 24th and 25th long term residents who are currently living in the east wing will be relocated to the south wing. Upgrades to the east wing twill then begin.

If all goes according to plan, registration and health records will move into the new building on Monday, May 30th. Acute care, primary health care, therapies and public health are all slated to move June 1st.

The emergency room will be on temporary bypass between May 30th and June 2nd in order to accommodate the move.

Once completed, the existing Kelvindell Lodge will include primary, acute and emergency services. The new facility will replace the Kelvington Hospital and offer 45 long-term care beds, seven acute care beds and seven multi-purpose patient rooms for primary care.

The provincial government contributed $12 million toward the project, which represents 80 per cent of total project costs. The KTHR and community funded the rest.
