The Kelsey Trail Health Region has announced their four scholarship award winners for 2016.

Hudson Bay's Jordan Smith and Tammy-Jo Lepine of Arborfield are the recipients of the $1,000 KTHR Aboriginal Scholarship program.

Smith is enrolled in the two year Combined Lab/X-Ray Technician program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon. She hopes to obtain employment with KTHR upon successful completion of her post-secondary education. Lepine is enrolled in the Business Administration program. She is currently employed as a Continuing Care Assistant/Recreation Worker at Pineview Lodge in Arborfield and a CCA at Pineview Lodge in Nipawin. She hopes to obtain employment in the administration department within KTHR upon completion of her program.

Michelle Fagnou of Melfort and Porcupine Plains Marina Thorson are the General Scholarship winners, also for $1,000.

Fagnou is a second year Nursing student in the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program through the University of Regina/Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon. She currently works as a CCA in Melfort Home Care. Thorson is enrolled in the second year of a two year Therapeutic Recreation program through Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Prince Albert. She currently works in Activities and Food Services at the Red Deer Nursing Home in Tisdale while completing her diploma through distance education.

The purpose of the annual scholarship program offered by the region is to encourage individuals to enter into educational programs which will help them gain health care employment opportunities.
