The Humboldt area is in for another blast of winter misery Tuesday evening.

A low pressure system inching into Saskatchewan from southern Alberta means precipitation across the Prairies, Environment Canada warning preparedness meteorologist Natalie Hasell said.

“It’s been really ugly through parts of central Saskatchewan. We've had a lot of reports of freezing rain and accidents associated to that on roads and highways,” she said.

“It looks like, unfortunately, this freezing rain mixed with snow is going to stick around in the Humboldt area easily until this evening, maybe even into late evening.”

Northern winds this evening will usher in temperatures in the minus twenties, and they won’t rise again until Monday, which has a forecast high of -12 C.

“Here we are - winter is not over and we’re in another cold snap and all the precautions that you were taking just a few days ago in the Prairies have to be taken again,” Hasell said.

She advises people to have an emergency kit in the car and home.
