Saskatchewan Justice Ministry is investigating a privacy breach that took place at a private SGI licence issuer in Vonda.

A Privacy Commissioner's report released in September states that one employee of Himetown Insurance Brokers in Vonda accessed information involving thousands of people.

The report says the employee admitted to looking through people's private information including photo's, email addresses and other data without authorization for over two decades, dating back to 1995.

SGI caught wind of the breach in late July of this year, and added that the employee had no wrongful intent and did not share the private data or use it for personal gain.

The Privacy commissioner has recommended passing this case to prosecutors and called for tighter guidelines for SGI to protect private personal information.
