The Humboldt Uniplex will once again be raising its rates for the upcoming year.

A three-year rate increase plan for 2019 through 2021 was passed Monday night at City Council.

Mike Ulriksen, Director of Leisure Services with the City of Humboldt, talks about the importance of the changes and what they mean to the Uniplex and the patrons hoping to use its facilities.

"The three-year plan is basically an overview of where we see the rates going to in the next three years, and council has the ability to change those rates at any time." Ulriksen, continued "This gives council the opportunity to see what they are looking at, in terms of rates, as well as their effects on subsidies and other matters."

Amenities affected include the arena, convention, fitness centre, as well as the aquatic centre, and leisure passes. All price changes were based on surrounding communities and their facilities and rates. Ulricksen notes that while the community comparison is key.
