Barely half a month into 2019 and Humboldt is performing its first upgrades to the Uniplex and its facilities.

The Humboldt Aquatic Centre is seeing the biggest facelift, with the floors being worked down and finished with a battleship linoleum similar to what was used within the arena. Other areas getting some new features included the curling rink, which got a brand new $50,000 compressor for the ice, as well as the Bronco's dressing room is in the works of a redesign, also of importance was the fitness room, having sold and purchased equipment to better suit the needs of its patrons.

Mike Ulriksen, Community and Leisure Services Director with the City of Humboldt, was happy with the work being done around the Uniplex.

"Because the community sees these things coming now, it is no longer a surprise for everybody, and it makes things easier on our scheduling."

Ulriksen also talked about how important having a good selection of local services for these upgrades really is.

"Anytime we look at having to purchase something, we always look locally first. We want to support our local economy as well as show our businesses that there is plenty of opportunity for large jobs within Humboldt."

The Uniplex is a staple part of Humboldt and hosts numerous functions and events all throughout the year.
