Humboldt and Area World Refugee Coalition is putting on a Bar-B-Que on Monday.

In honour of World Refugee Day, the Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition is holding the Bar-b-que on Monday.

Civic Park will be the place to be for some bar be que in support of HARC, who will also be celebrating Humboldt's first Syrian refugee family.

Coalition Member Erin Ruel says this couldn't be done without sponsors.

"The Bar-b-que is being sponsored by the Co-op and Conexus Credit Union. The Co-op is supplying the
Bar-b-que and the food, and Conexus is providing volunteers, so we're very grateful for that support."

Ruel explains why they are having the Bar-Be-Que

"Monday is World Refugee Day, June 20th. So we are having a Bar-b-que to raise some money and more than that, raise some awareness."

Ruel says the City of Humboldt also plans to do something special for World Refugee Day.

"They have decided to declare World Refugee Day to Humboldt on June 20th too, so that's really nice."

The Bar-Be-Que will be held in Civic Park and runs from 11:30 until 1 o'clock.
