Seven days of decorating cookies and keeping up with demand turned into an outstanding week for Tim Horton's Smile Cookie Week in Humboldt.

A total of 7,465 cookies were enjoyed by those passing through Tim Horton's from September 12-18.

That is nearly 2,500 more cookies sold than 2015, which saw just over 5,000 cookies purchased.

Tim Horton's sold the cookies for one dollar each, with all proceeds going to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

"I was shocked, I didn't believe it. That's just amazing," exclaimed Executive Director Lorrie Bunko. "Thank you to Tim Horton's and everyone who bought a cookie."

"We are still wondering how many chocolate chips that totals," she joked.

When it comes to donations for health care in the area, Bunko has continually stated that every little bit helps. She says that certainly shows with the smile cookies.

"We always say take it ten dollars at a time. Here, it was one dollar at a time, and it resulted in nearly $7,500. It's little steps like that, that add up to a big difference."

"We're looking around $300,000 a year if we are wanting to bring this new technology in, new services," Bunko continued. "Over 30,000 people in the area have to get behind this, because we can only go higher with our health care."

She added that they aren't sure where exactly the dollars will go yet, but they have some costly items that need to be checked off their equipment list.

"We have items now that are bigger ticketed items, so we are looking at the $50,000 or $60,000 dollar range, so this is definitely a big help."

This is the third year that Tim Horton's and the HDHF have partnered up for the campaign, with the amount of cookies and dollars donated rising each year.

With this year's new record factored in, the four-year total is now just over $19,000 donated.
