A diamond theft gone wrong is only the beginning for the laughs for the Humboldt Theatre Clubs first ever play.

The comedy Million Dollar Meatballs was performed by the theatre club three times for the Humboldt audience.

Sarah Miller acted and directed the play, and she talks about the response from the play.

"The Humboldt Theatre Club is the first club since the Community Players disbanded about 15 years ago. It has been quite a challenge to get people out and engaged in theatre again, but it was definitely worthwhile, there was great food, a great atmosphere, and it a hilarious play. The crowds were laughing all through out."

Miller not only directed the play, but also acted in it.

She talks about her decision to do both.

"11 people came out for auditions, we needed 12. I wasn't going to let it fall to pieces, I decided I would act and get it going again. It's been a great success, people in the community are super supportive, super excited to come out for local theatre again. That's what makes it so great, it is local theatre and it is live theatre, and that's not something Humboldt has anymore."

The play was the first to be performed by the newly formed Humboldt Theatre Club.

"We want to do two plays per year, so every six months. Starting in October, our plan is to have auditions for an upcoming production that we would be doing in February which would hopefully be a murder mystery and do it for a couple's retreat sense, where it would be something for adults to come out to for Valentine's Day."

Over 120 people were in attendance for the final performance Sunday night.

The Theatre club thanks those who came out to watch the performances for the support.
