The Humboldt Theater lifted the spirits of Humboldt last week at the Humboldt Community Gathering Place.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 12 actors and drama producers came together to perform "Spirit." The play is about senior citizens living in a senior living facility while trying to change peoples perception of the value of people living in assisted living.

"Just because they need help with their everyday lives, doesn't mean they aren't the people they always were throughout their lifetime and they are valuable members to our society," said Annette Magus, production manager and a cast member of the play.

Throughout the three performances, people had the choice to donate to the Alzheimers Society. The reason for the optional coin collection is because one of the characters deals with Alzheimer's.

People were able to enjoy desserts and beverages during the intermission of the performances as the Humboldt Theatre Club gave a little spirit to the community.

"It's a cold time of year, and we just wanted to do something to bring joy to the community and an option for people to come out."
