The Humboldt SPCA has fundraisers on the way to help raise money for their new home.

Along with their barbecue that was held on Friday, the SPCA is holding a fundraiser in November and another in December.

Kathleen Forster with the Humboldt SPCA says they are close to their target.

"We're close to $200,000. We'd like to start it once we hit $300,000, because that's enough to get us started, to get us going, and then hopefully more donations will come in as people see that we are building it."

Forster describes one of the upcoming fundraisers.

"On November the 5th, we have our annual comedy night. 'Raise the Woof', they are professional comics that tour around North America and put on a comedy night for shelters and rescues to help them to raise funds for their organizations."

Forster describes another fundraiser taking place in December.

"We also have another fundraiser coming up. It'll be for the month of December. Tickets will go on sale soon, so hopefully we sell it out. There is a cash-calendar draw, so every day of the moth we draw for cash."

The new building will possibly start construction next year.
