Embarking on a nine day trip to Nova Scotia, a group of scouts from Humboldt have recently returned from their adventure.

The First Westminster Scouts of Humboldt attended the 2017 Canadian Jamboree at Camp Nedooae, outside of Elderbank, Nova Scotia.

Shyanna Reich was one of the experienced jamboree attendees from Humboldt, and says they enjoyed their time on the Atlantic coast.

"The trip was pretty exciting, especially since most of our scouts haven't been to a CJ before," she explained. "I was at a CJ in 2013 and now I went to my second one. It ended up turning out pretty good."

Reich says that her biggest highlight of the trip was working.

"I worked in the trading post, which was basically the souvenir shop on the camp. I saw people from around the world come by and it was pretty cool."

Days were full of activities, says another of the scouts, Nico.

"We usually got up at 5:00am, so we can prepare breakfast and prepare everything for the morning. Then after that, we would start hiking to our activities."

The scouts say that the wake-up time affected them quite a bit, considering there was also a three hour time difference, making it 2:00am in Humboldt.

Nico added that they had to walk two kilometres to the store each day to get their cooking supplies for the day.

The group would put on around 20 kilometres a day simply from walking.

Other activities throughout the week included deep sea fishing and mud slides.

They returned from the trip on Saturday.
