The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency has issued a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory for rural centres and residents on the area system.

That is coinciding with a Water Conservation Advisory the City of Humboldt issued earlier on Wednesday.

Due to a power outage in the Wakaw region the Wakaw-Humboldt Regional Water Supply System is down.

Power was lost around 4 o'clock Wednesday morning.

The City wants to ensure their reservoirs have enough capacity so they ask you postpone washing vehicles, don't run water continuously while brushing teeth or washing dishes, take shorter showers, minimize running your washing machine and only flush the toilet when necessary.

Due to a damaged power line the system will be down for 48 hours therefore a drinking water advisory has been issued as well although the City of Humboldt has not received word to issue a PDWA at this time.

The City of Humboldt is currently running off reserves so residents have an opprtunity to put water aside, as of now it is safe to ingest. The City will likely issue a PDWA sometime Thursday.

Water should be brought to a rolling boil for a minute if it is to be ingested for anyone else on the system.
