Residents of Humboldt and area will be able to enjoy their Christmas music in a more local way this year.

Jodie Hergott of Humboldt has released a Christmas album just ahead of the holidays.

"Christmas Heart is something I have been wanting to do for a long time. It has been on my bucket list to do a full length Christmas album," said Hergott. "Here it is. I got the title because I love everything Christmas."

"Christmas Freak just wasn't something I thought would go over well," she joked.

Hergott is a familiar name, not only for what she does in the community, but also for playing shows with her band 40oz. Philosophy, as well as other settings.

She says that music has been something she has enjoyed for quite some time.

"It was just a passion I had. When I was 12, I begged and pleaded my dad to buy me a guitar. It was band night at the school and I didn't want to play anything but the guitar," Hergott explained. "I took lessons in school for three years and started writing at the age of 14."

She added that during high school she took a break due to peer pressure before picking it back up in her 20's and then pausing once again for family time.

Now that her kids are all grown up and on their own, Hergott says that she has more time to focus on her passion.

She says that in the future she would like to work towards releasing more music.

"Probably to write and build a mainstream music album. Not necessarily a Christmas themed one, but to put enough work together to compose another full length album."

Hergott's Christmas Heart is available at Music on Main in Humboldt, as well as Jengaz Salon.
