Talent can only take an individual so far. Great teachers, coaches, and mentors are also instrumental in student-athletes' success.

Eight teachers and coaches from Horizon School Division were honoured with recognition awards for excellence in athletics at Horizon Central Athletic Association's annual spring meeting on April 10th.

Colin Olchowski was one of the teachers/coaches recognized. Olchowski is employed at Humboldt Public School and has been coaching there for the last six years.

"It was great to be recognized and it's very much appreciated. I feel that from within my staff, but it's very nice to get an appreciation from the whole HCAA," said Olchowski.

Colin Olchowski is the Athletics Rep at Humboldt Public School and has been deeply involved in coaching multiple extracurricular activities over the years.

"This is my sixth year at Humboldt Public School. I started out coaching volleyball, as well as a little bit of basketball. I've also been the coach for badminton and track and field, and along with that, I've always enjoyed helping out with refereeing as well."

Humboldt Public School is in good hands with Olchowski and his involvement as a coach, athletic rep, and referee over the years made him very deserving of an HCAA Recognition Award.
