107.5 Bolt FM and DiscoverHumboldt.com has donated money to the Humboldt Music Festival for its 80th year of performances.

A total of $1,500 was donated to the Festival.

President Patti Durand talks about the 80th annual Humboldt Music Fest.

"In 2017, the Humboldt Music Festival will be April 24th to May 5th, and so you'll notice that's only a two week span. We're going to have the three main disciplines, vocal, piano and band, over those two weeks."

Durand says although the HMF has been a bit slower in the last few years, things are looking up.

"I'm happy to say that our board has been focusing on increasing the registrations together with the decreasing our costs and managing the facilities as best as we're able. We've come to a point now where we are in a sustainable position, and so ideally I'd really like to see the music festival around for another 80 years."

The donation will go to support scholarships and operational costs of the festival. Durand further describes where the funds will go towards.

"This generous donation from the radio station will be going towards generally keeping the cost down for our festival. We want to make sure that it continues to be accessible and successful and so we have some scholarships that it contributes towards, as well as actually using towards the facilities and other expenses."

The Festival attracts school concert bands from Humboldt schools, and focuses on vocal, piano and band skills, with a final performance to close off the festival every year.
