Conservative Member of Parliament for the Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek riding, Kelly Block, has been appointed to the cabinet for the official opposition.

Interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose stated on Friday that Block will serve as the critic for Transport. She had not been appointed to the cabinet while Stephen Harper was in office.

Block is serving her third term in Ottawa, with this being the first time she will represent the riding in which the City of Humboldt falls under.

In 2008, she was first elected as MP for the Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar riding, which was absorbed into the newly named Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek riding.

Other notable Saskatchewan MP's who become critics include Brad Trost, who served Saskatoon-Humboldt since 2004. He will overlook criticism on Canada/US Relations. Former Agriculture Minister, Gerry Ritz is now critic for International Trade.
